SUMMER LUAU FUN

Families, guests, workers and vendors all had a good time on a beautiful day

at the Kern County Museum! ROAMING REPTILES began with a fantastic show for

this event celebrating FAMILY!  Many creatures came to visit...

ROAMING REPTILES brought curious looks and lots of question with their creatures.  Mahalo for donating your time.

WHAT?  A TURTLE at a LUAU? What's up with that.  A reptilian can't get any respect!

LUAU DINNER WAS SUPERB!  Prepared by Maui Pho and donated by Jammin Island Hula...We fed close to 200 people.

Then on with the HULA DANCE COMPETITION

JUDGES took this event seriously...I am glad I didn't have their job!

Hawaiian guest judge who also blessed us with a Hawaiian prayer dance, CSUB Small Business Advisor, Jay Thompson and Bakersfield College Kinship Program Director, Mary Halberg.  Mahalo to the three of you for keeping it fair!

ANGELIC FACES OF THE LILO TEAM...Go Wahines, Summer, Sierra, & Illi

KEIKIS enjoyed performing for the first time.  They did a hula to Pearly Shells and stole the judges Hearts.

There were vendors such as Scentsy and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary 93.  They both

helped sponsor foster families this day.  Mahalo for your kindness.

                      ON with the COMPETITION!

Michelle "ROCKS" the HOUSE with her hip swaying, uli shaking, and a smile that lit the audience and Judges.

She took 2nd place in her division, WOW!

Foster Youth Speaker Olivia gave a HEART warming speech as Elena Acosta, Asst. DHS Director and Brandi,

IDEAL CONNEX, gave her support.  Olivia is a foster graduate and a great role model for others.

Foster/Adopt Child CASSIE and friend GINA competed too.  They were

rubberneck'n right in time.  Great teamwork!  Eyewitness News Guy-Drew and

hula dad, Richard wanted to show their stuff, too! Pretty Kool!

Signs and decorations were made by Esperanza Guzman a hula mom for all the youngsters and adults

to enjoy.  Awesome work!  Mahalo Esperanza

We had dancers from as far away as Utah and this Wikiwiki was wonderful.  She gave the others a run

for the trophys with her unique style of hula.

Tahitian dancers Angel, Nadia & Caydee wowed the crowd!  Very exciting!
